One of the most appealing characteristics of Granny B's old Fashioned Paint is that it's textured finish allows you to easily write on that surface using traditional chalk.
This means that any surface can become a potential 'chalkboard'.
This allows for a world of creative opportunity!
Whether you are wanting to create a feature wall, add a chalkboard surface to a table, or even turn your fridge into a funky writeable surface and display that week's menu!
Interesting fact:
Did you know South Africa has 11 official languages?
Each on of these languages has it's own word for te English word chalk...
Afrikaans: kalk or kryt
Zulu: ushoki
Sotho: tjhoko or ditjhoko
Have some fun and look up the translations for the rest of country's languages!
To paint just about any surface with Granny B's, the basics are as follows:
- Clean the surface well with sugar soap or lacquer thinners
- In the case of a glossy surface, scuff the surface or use our 'Block and Tackle' stain-blocking primer
- Apply a one to two coats of our Classic Seal or Armour to seal - which allows you to easily clean the chalkboard with a damp cloth after each use
You can paint just about any surface with the help of our Surface Preparation Guide, glass, tile, stained wood, and even melamine!
Once you have sealed the surface with either of our sealers, you are able to write on the surface with your chalk, but also easily clean the surface with a damp cloth.
We recommend waiting 24 hours after sealing before putting your new chalkboard through it's paces!
